What to cook?????

Thad had some allergy testing done recently because he just wasn't feeling right. We got the results today. He is highly allergic to dairy, garlic, and peanuts. Moderately allergic to almond, blueberry, filbert, sesame seed, spelt and wheat. ...and Mildly allergic to oyster, broccoli, carrot, cucumber, pepper, bell pepper, radish, squash, zucchini, kidney beans, lima beans, string beans, soy, oat, green peas, rye, grapefruit, orange, and sugar cane! With a list like that, what on earth do you cook for a family! So, to start with, we are completely cutting out the high allergy foods (dairy, garlic, and peanut) and we are limiting the moderate category and we are ignoring the mild category. Hopefully Thad will notice a difference soon and be feeling much better with these allergens out of his system. In other random news...Titus slept through the night again (2nd time) from 8 pm til 5:30 AM last night! And Raquelle has learned how to spit. So, I'm taking suggestions for din...

Titus needs your help!

A new treat

It was hot, so I stripped Raquelle down to her diaper, stuck the high chair out side, and gave her a popsicle. She liked it. I knew that they stain, that's why she was naked. I didn't realize it would stain her skin though! She thought the stick was yummy! I think she likes it! All done and all messy This is after I cleaned her up! All the red that is left is stained skin!

This just made my day!

My colicky GERD baby was actually happy to sit in his bouncy seat and swat at his toys! He was so happy, I was able to get it on camera! it's almost noon and he has not cried yet today! YEAH!!!! He's so cute when he smiles! He's cute anyway, but the smile just adds so much to that adorable little face!

He did it!!!

I can't believe it! Titus is 5 weeks old today and he slept through the night last night! Normally he eats at 10 pm, 2 am, 4 and 6 am. Last night, he ate at 10, and then skipped both the 2 and 4 am feedings! He slept clear till 5:30! I didn't think that was possible before about 2 months old. I guess that's one of the benefits of having a big baby! They have the stomach capacity to sleep longer at a younger age!

My turn!

Hi everyone, Raquelle here. I just thought I'd let you all know that I am 22.6 lbs now and 30.5 inches tall. I wanted to tell you all that since mommy keeps telling you how big baby Titus is. Baby Titus cries. I try to pat him on the nose to calm him down, but it doesn't work. I want to be a big helper for mommy. Today, I cleaned up my toys! She told me what toy to go get, and I got it and put it in my toy box! It took me a while but I got the whole living room clean. Mommy is pretty busy with baby Titus. Especially since Daddy was home sick this weekend. Here is a picture of me with my messy hair on Sunday. They didn't get me dressed all day! I'm wearing a onsie and my jammy pants here! Oh, and if you look close, there is a circle inside my shirt. That's one of those things (breast pad) that mommy keeps taking out whenever she feeds baby. I see her put them in her shirt, so I put one in my shirt to be like mommy! Mommy is being a much better mommy t...

Update

We're still sick here. Thad actually called in sick to work today for only the 2nd time in the last 4 years! So I sent him to the dr. Hopefully he will come home with some medicine that will get rid of this. Titus and Raquelle both have it too. I started Raquelle on vitamin C and echinacea and air born yesterday and so far she only has a clear runny nose and still seems perfectly happy. Hopefully that means she isn't going to get it bad like Thad and I. Thad says his has spread to a sinus infection and possibly bronchitis too. Titus has the runny nose and a sore throat. The sore throat is the worst. It makes feeding very traumatic for him. He has to stop and fuss or cry in between every swallow. He is too young to stuff full of the vitamins like I am doing with Raquelle. I'm finally feeling better. I started on antibiotics yesterday for mastitis and the antibiotics seem to be helping this sickness too. I'm optimistic that Thad will come home with meds too...

My last couple of posts have been mostly updates without pictures. So here is a picture post for you. This is what Titus looked like most of last week. Here is Titus smiling! He has smiled in his sleep ever since birth, but just today (Mothers day), he looked up at me and smiled a great big smile while he was awake! He also has started batting at the toys we hang over him. And here I am trying to snuggle and feed both kids at the same time. Titus still has a bad latch, so I pump and bottle feed about 1/4 of the time for him. Titus is doing much better now that the meds are a couple days into his system. He has happy awake time now and smiles and bats at his toys. When he is upset, he is fussy instead of screaming. Oh, and his thrush is all better (at least in his mouth, he still has the diaper rash that goes with it). Raquelle is constantly trying to give Titus kisses. When I nurse or feed a bottle, she wants to get up on the couch and snuggle too. She can say "Titus...

Update

Titus is doing much better now that he's had his first 2 doses of his medicine. He has gone from screaming constantly, to actually having some happy times. And his fussy time is now just fussy, not screaming. I've been told that it can take up to a week for the medicine to be in full effect and we should see him gradually get better between now and then. There is enough of a difference though that I definitely think we have the right diagnosis. Supposedly, if I don't notice significant improvement we are suppose to call the dr again on Monday and they will prescribe a 2nd medicine to add to this one. The only down side is the cost. It is $162 for one month of Titus Medicine and we are expecting him to need it for the next 12 months! Thad only filled part of it because of the cost and he will be calling our insurance company to try to get the paperwork and everything through before we need to refill it. I know that our insurance will be retroactive to his birth, but...

Poor Baby

Changing my diet didn't help, so I called the dr yesterday and made an appointment for today. We went in to see Patty this afternoon and Titus screamed the entire time! She tried everything and nothing would calm him down. She did find that the left side of his belly seemed to hurt when she poked at it, so she picked him up and went down the hall to ask one of the Dr's there what they thought. The dr poked at him and listened to his chest and belly and said she thinks Titus has GERD ( Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Patty has only had one other baby with this before (out of over a thousand that she has delivered). They sent us across the street to the hospital for X-Rays. Then the hospital sent us back to the dr office to wait. His X-Ray showed that his bowels are distended. On the picture it basically looked like the left side of his intestines were twice the size of the rest of them because they are swollen. She said it isn't anything that she is worried about...

Pictures and update

I haven't had any pictures in the last couple posts, so here are some new pictures. (My camera was missing all last week). Raquelle loves her new little brother! She is constantly giving him kisses! Here is Titus at 1 week old with his blue camo blanket that I made. And here is Titus and 2.5 weeks. His skin and hair is already lightening up. Titus and Rauelle almost look like siblings now! Titus does still have thrush. It's being resistant just like the thrush that Raquelle had when she was born. After 10 days of Nystatin, his thrush was the same. No worse, but no better either. So we did 4 days of gention violet. That turned him purple, but didn't get rid of it either. It actually got worse while he was on it. So, we are back to nystatin again hoping to keep it from getting any worse. Titus and I are both taking acidophilus and so far, I haven't gotten it. Hopefully it will be gone soon. with Raquelle, it took 2.5 months to clear up. Unfortunitly, the ny...

2 weeks old

Titus is two weeks old today! Here are his stats from his check up. Weight - 9 lbs 1 oz (up 5 oz from his birth weight) 57% Height - 22.5 inches (up 2" since birth!) 93% So he is tall and lean. Titus is now half an inch taller then Raquelle was at her 2 month old check up! He's a big boy. We are almost ready to pack away the 0 to 3 month clothes and move into 3 to 6 month based on his height.
