Yeah for sleep!!!

Image
I've been told that everything really starts to happen at about 8 weeks. Well, tomorrow is 8 weeks and she slept through the night last night! I hope it wasn't a fluke! She was being fussy so I kept feeding her. She at at 8:45, 9:45 and 10:30 and then went to sleep. She didn't wake up again until 5 am! Usually she is up again at 3:30! We are very happy about this and plan on "cluster feeding" her again before bed tonight. Since I know how much everyone loves the pictures, here is one of her right after a bath. She had a really bad diaper (bad mommy, don't eat pizza!) and had to have a bath to get cleaned up. When her hair gets wet, it is quite curly. If I don't brush it down while it is still wet, it sticks straight up until her next bath! She takes after her daddy in this area.

Thad update

Thad just got back from the dr. The analysis is strained muscles and a bruise on his foot. Nothing long term. The dr said he should be feeling better in 7 to 10 days and that he needs to try to stay active so the muscles don't tighten up any worse then they already are. We are very glad that he came out of this as good as he did and that everything is expected to heal just fine.

Super Baby!

Image
Can this be possible? I didn't think they were suppose to do this for a couple more months, but Raquelle has been rolling over all morning! After she gets onto her back, she tries to keep going, but can't quite make it from back to front yet. It took us a few tries to get it all on camera because I gave up waiting for her to roll over, and as soon as I stopped waiting with the camera, she would roll over again. So, I finally had to just be very pacient to get these pictures.

Thad's accident

Yup, that's right. 2 car accidents in the same family in the same month! I'll start off by saying that he is ok so that no one will worry about him. He was driving home from work (in the company car) on a rural highway and an oncoming car made a left turn right in front of him. Sound familior? If it doesn't scroll down and read about Annie's accident! Anyway, Thad actually did have time to get to the break pedal, so he didn't hit at as high of a speed. He is walking away from the accident and not going to the hospital. I did make a dr appointment for him for tomorrow just to make sure he is ok. His car, however, is leaving the scene by tow truck. Mom says these things usually happen in 3's so I wonder who is next?

Sleeping in her crib

Image
We are now trying AGAIN to transition Raquelle to her crib. We tried this a couple weeks ago and she was doing well, but then she got sick and had to sleep upright. So, back to sleeping in the bouncy seat or occasionally the swing. I was hoping I wouldn't start any bad habbits. Her first nap yesterday, she slept in her crib...I put her down and she went right to sleep without any fussing. Her 2nd nap, She fell asleep in my arms, so I went and laid her down...5 min later she was fussing and a min later she was screaming. So, I went and calmed her down and got her back to sleep. 5 min later she was fussing and a min later she was screaming. This continued for an hour before she finally dropped off and stayed asleep. Then, last night...Thad fed her and put her to bed and she went right down without any fussing. Middle of the night, she ate and went right back to bed with no fussing. This morning...she is refusing her crib. I got frustrated enough I gave up for the morning ...

We have a laugh!!!

Image
That's right, Raquelle laughed out loud at me last night! It was the cutest thing. She has also discovered the wonderful world of toys. This is a life saver for mommy as long as she doesn't get the hiccups. Wow!!! The cow is singing to me!!!

A couple more

I guess Thad has different favorites then I do. So here is # 5   And here is #6.

Easter Pictures

Image
Out of tons of pictures, here are the top 4 Easter pictures. Vote for your favorite. She ended up having 3 Easter dresses due to projectile spit up. Dresses number 2 and 3 are here. Her original one is in the laundry. 1   2   3   4

Sick baby

Raquelle is sick for the first time and it is miserable. She started coughing yesterday and today has the runny eyes, stuffy runny nose, coughing and sneezing. It is a little scary because when her nose gets stuffed up, she doesn't seem to realize she should open her mouth to breath. I've been checking her temp regularily and if it goes over 100, we will take her in to the dr. So far it's been in the low 99's which I don't think is considered a fever for a baby. We got no sleep last night. She fussed until 1 am, and when she finally went to sleep, she snorted all night. We slept her in our room since she is sick so we couldn't just turn the moniter down. She also can't sleep laying down. She has to be upright or she can't breath, but she has a hard time staying asleep if she is propped up (like in her bouncy seat). I hope this passes soon. I'm taking vitamins and airborn in hopes that it will pass through the breastmilk to her. We had pla...

Changes

Well, several things have changed in the last week. Raquelle had a growth spurt. She grew an inch in one week and now all the 0 to 3 month clothes are too short for her. I can't belive that at 6 weeks old my baby is wearing 3 to 6 month clothes! I measured her and she is now in the 90th percentile for height and the 30th peracentile for weight. That means the 0 to 3 month clothes still fall off of her or hang by her diaper, but the pants are all capris! There is no way that 3 to 6 month pants will fit in the waist, so we are investing in one piece outfits for her. That way, the waist measurement doesn't matter. As a result of this growth spurt, she is also now too long for her bassinet. She can kick her feet and shover her face into the top corner. This makes me worry about suffocation, so we transitioned her to her crib. Last night was her first night in her own room. I had originally been planning to wait til she was sleeping through the night for this, but I don...

The Car

Annies accident

My little sister Andrea was in a horrible car accident last night. She was driving on an old country highway when a drunk uninsured motorist turned literally just a few feet in front of her. She didn't even have time to move her foot from the gas to the break before they crashed head on. Everyone who was at the scene says that she is lucky to be alive. The air bag and seat belt saved her life. She is also lucky to have escaped with no broken bones! She was taken by ambulance to the hospital and released sometime overnight. She is badly bruised up and has cuts from the seatbelt, but she is home and alive. She has to be sitting up in a recliner because she can't breath laying down due to bruised ribs and is unable to get around by herself, but they gave her vicodin so hopefully that will help. If you happen to stop through and read my blog, say a prayer for my little sisters recovery. We are all very happy that she is still with us, though she is in a lot of pain.

Purple pictures

Image
I will NOT smile! I mean it. I'm NOT going to smile! You can try all you want and make a fool of yourself but I WON'T Smile! Ok, maybe just a little smile... Now will you stop making funny faces at me and talking baby talk? I'm tired and want my nap!

Thrush still

Well, we still have thrush. Raquelle really hated the purple stuff. She gagged and screamed and so I only did it the one day hoping that it would kill the thrush in one shot. NO such luck. It came back in full force this weekend while I was up in Washington. It started coming back on Saturday and by Sunday I was ready to switch her totally to formula. So, Up in WA we went and bought another bottle of the purple stuff and this time, even though she hates it, we will do all three doses. I really hope the purple clears up by Easter! Last time, we did really good. She only got it in her mouth and a little on her lips. This time, it's all accross her entire face. Poor thing. I did figure out that washing her face with milk helps to fade the purple though. Hopefully after this we will be done with it and it won't come back. If it does come back again...I think we'll have to make another trip to the dr to find out what to do next because I'm running out of ideas.

Raquelle is 1 month old today! I can't believe that it has already been a whole month! Thad says it seems like we've had her forever, but I feel like we just brought her home yesterday, except that she is so big now. I weighed her yesterday and she is now just over 9 lbs. She was 6 lbs 10 oz when Grandma took us to the dr at 3 days old. She has gained 2.5 lbs since then and is also about 2 inches longer. I've been trying hard to get a picture of her smiling. This is the closest I've gotten so far. What brings out the most smiles is laying in her crib and staring at the pooh bumper. She also likes the aquariam from aunt Krista. So, I put her in her crib, turned the aquariam on and just snapped picture after picture. Her smiles come and go so quickly though that all I could get was the tail end of this one. You can still see the smile in her eyes really well.

Updates

Image
Raquelle got a new car seat this weekend. I tried it on her today. She definitely isn't going anywhere if we crash with her buckled into this thing. It's a never been used before hand me down seat. Thanks mom for sending this down. Tell whoever it came from thanks too. Well, we finally gave in and painted the baby purple. It's really not a good color on her. I'm hoping it will clear up by this weekend. She was not very happy with the process. I'm sure that stuff must tast nasty, but hopefully after a few days of purple slobber we will be done with the thrush. We have to re-paint her again tomorrow and Thursday and then we can let her gradually return to her previous color.

Milestones

We hit several milestones last night and today. Last night, I fed Raquelle at 9:45 and put her to bed awake. She didn't fuss or cry, just made a couple cooing noises and fell asleep on her own. Then she didn't wake up until 4:15 to eat! That's 6.5 hours! Then, after feeding her, I put her back to bed wide awake and she put herself to sleep again without screaming and slept til 8:30 AM. Another 4.25 hours! I haven't felt this good in a month! The other mile stone, This morning I picked her up, and she looked up at me and smiled! It was a huge ear to ear smile that lit up her eyes and her whole face, not the little half smiles that I've been counting. It almost made me cry. I can't wait for those smiles to come more often. And lastly, I'm wearing a pair of pre-pregnancy pants today! They are still really tight, but they are wearable.

Our photo shoot

Image
Raquelle and I had a spontaneous photo shoot this morning. I'm sure you can tell from my lovely hair that this was not planned, but I ended up liking the pictures, so I thought I'd share them. I wish we would have gotten better shots of Raquelle's face instead of the back of her head, but we can always try again later. In the original version of this one, you can easily see all the white thrush in her mouth. That's sad because she finished her medicine yesterday. You could also see about 7 medicinines on the night stand. Thad says that accounts for the look in my eyes.
