1 week old

Titus turned 1 week old yesterday. He is still having feeding issues, but at his appointment with the lactation consultant today he finally started gaining weight. He is back up to 8 lbs 7 oz now. We are still working on his latch and teaching him to suck, but he is doing better. At our last appointment (Tuesday) he nursed 1 oz from me and then took a bottle. Today, he nursed 2.5 oz and was happy. It looks like our next big concern for him is getting rid of thrush. At least we have experience on our side this time around. Hopefully it won't take us nearly as long to get rid of it this time. He is still a little jaundice, but his color is looking better. 5 more oz to gain and we will be back up to his birth weight. I'm sure he can do that in the next week.

I have to say, now that we have had Titus with us for a week, I believe that having a 3rd child, or even having newborn twins, would be easier then having a new baby and a 13 month old. Raquelle is in to everything (as usual), only now, I'm frequently tied down to a new baby. She is still learning what no means and only sometimes responds to it. This means if she crawls behind the computer desk while I'm nursing and doesn't come out when I tell her to, I have to stop nursing to go get her. At night time, if Raquelle is sleeping well, Titus is up. He'll wake up to eat and not go back to sleep for 3 or 4 hours. If Titus is having a good night and sleeping well, suddenly Raquelle is up either with a tummy ache or a bad dream. So it's not just minimal sleep, we are oporating on basically no sleep. Of course, they couldn't nap at the same time either. With all this busyness though, I wouldn't have it any other way. Raquelle absolutely adores her little b...

Birth Story

Ok, as promised, here is Titus birth story and it's probably going to be pretty long. It actually starts 2 weeks ago with prodominal labor. I had this with Raquelle where I start contracting early, but make no cervical change. We went to the hospital on Sunday night the 8th with contractions 4 min apart. The contractions were making no change, but Titus HB was low and not variable enough so they kept me. After monitoring over night, there had been no progress, but his HB was better. My MW offered to try a cytotec to ripen things up and see if that would get things going for him to be born. I had the first dose at 8 AM and a 2nd dose around noon. They caused my ctx to become very consistent but not incredibly painful. By the end of the day I had made no progress and his HB had been better so we went home. Went to the dr the next day and she offered to induce with pitocin. We said no. Then next Sunday the 15th, I had been cleaning all day and probably over did it (my mom wa...

Eviction Day!

Image
Titus is coming tomorrow (Thursday)!!!! I just got off the phone with my midwife (who is back in town now) and I am meeting her at the hospital at 8:30 am. They will break my water at 9 and hope things start on their own with that. If that doesn't do it then I'll have to have pitocin. I'm praying that just breaking my water is enough. Hopefully, by this time tomorrow I will be holding and nursing my baby boy! We are going to drop Raquelle off with my sister tonight at bed time and then I'm taking an ambien to try to get a good night sleep so I can have my strength in the morning. So, wish me luck. Stay tuned for birth story and pictures.

2 days left

2 days left til my due date. Of course, in the world of babies that means nothing. Technically, babies can take anywhere from 38 to 42 weeks and they just choose the middle of that time to be your due date. The good news is, my midwife is back in town as of this afternoon, so unless I go in the next few hours (not likely) she will get to deliver the baby instead of the dr. Yeah! I have this theory that the baby is sitting in there all comfy with a recliner and a big screen TV just laughing at all the misery he is putting his mom through. It's like my body is trying to get him out, but he just doesn't want to come. Anyway, I wasn't going to post this, but here is my final pregnant picture from this round. This was Easter morning at 38 weeks pregnant. I swear I have 10 lbs of swelling that I've added since then, but oh well. Stay tuned...He can't stay in there forever!

This last weekend

Hey guys. Just got home. Here's what happened over the last couple days... My mom came to help clean. I couldn't just sit and watch so I did some cleaning and organizing yesterday too. I was having regular ctx all day, but they weren't really painful. Went to bed about 11 pm (Saturday night) and they were annoying enough to keep me from sleeping well, but not enough to go in. Raquelle woke up just before 1 AM and since Thad was taking care of her I got up to use the bathroom. When I got back in bed, I had a really strong painful ctx. Thad came back in while I was breathing through it and asked if we were going to the hospital. I told him yes I think so, but lets wait for some more and see how far apart they are. They were 7 min apart so we got up and got dressed, ate a snack, etc. They got to 5 min apart, and then I had a couple back to back ones so we left for the hospital just after 2. When I checked into the hospital, I was at 2 cm (I was 1 cm at my mid week...

Easter

Here is Raquelle in her Easter dress. This is also her first picture with her new bangs. And here she is going for a nice walk on a beautiful Easter morning. And here Raquelle is enjoying her first spaghetti ever. This resulted in a bath when she was done eating as a wash cloth just wasn't doing the trick.

Still pregnant

Yes, I'm still pregnant, but I'm due this week so stay tuned.

1st Hospital Trip

I have a lot of contractions in the last month of pregnancy. It's no fun at all. Usually they start mid afternoon and continue through the evening and then taper off a couple hours after I try to go to bed. Sometimes a bath will help. Monday was no exception, only a bath didn't help, hot tea didn't help, and they didn't taper off over night. I was up all night with them and they continued all day Tuesday. By the time Thad got home from work he told me I needed to go to the hospital. I disagreed. I tried to explain that I'm not in labor, I'm just in misery. So he called my MW and the two of them ganged up on me. Since the dr office is right accros the street from the hospital and they are open late on Tuesdays, it didn't seem so bad to go there and get checked. Sure enough, I was right and we were sent back home. At least one good thing came of the trip....Ambien. God bless Ambien! I was actually able to sleep on Tuesday night and had pretty muc...

Eviction Notice!

Baby Boy, Tenant, has 14 days in which he can either gather his belongings and vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which he will be physically removed from the property. He is being evicted due to a breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the front of the property, with in reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back of the property were also made. Remodeling and gutting the property was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both upper and lower levels of the property. Also, late night parties have been discovered on the property and are not greatly appreciated! Any further problems will result in immediate removal!

Here is a picture of me at 1 yr old. Here is Raquelle at 1 yr old. I tried to find one of her with a similor facial expression. So if this isn't a good comparison, scroll down and look at some of her other pictures. I think we look a lot alike!
