Raquelle's birthday party

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. The kids have been sick and very needy. They have had constant colds for over 3 weeks now. On Saturday morning, Raquelle woke up very upset and with a high fever. We gave her tylenol and motrin throughout the day and that seemed to help some, but she was very clingy. By Saturday afternoon, her temp was 103. I gave her tylenol and it came down to 102.9. So I gave her motrin and it came down to 101. something. At that point since I had used both fever meds together, I called the dr. Dr said to take her to the ER. So, Thad stayed home with Titus and Raquelle and I went to the hospital. When she checked in at triage, her temp was 102.7, 2 hours after taking both tylenol and motrin together. Of course, even with the fever, as soon as we got to the hospital she was ready to play. The waiting room was no problem because they had a little play area. Then we were taken back to our room where we waited another hour to see a dr. Our room was full of medical equipment not suitable for a toddler to play with. She didn't want to be held, and I couldn't let her touch a lot of the stuff in there. She entertained herself for about 30 min with my keys, trying to fit them into the key hole in the sliding glass door to our room. Then she had fun wrapping herself up in the curtains, spinning on the dr's stool...a tongue depressor and medicine cup were very fun too. Finally, a dr came to see us. She has a double middle ear infection. They gave her more Tylenol and Motrin for her high fever, some clear stuff, and a tripple dose of her antibiotics....30 min later we got discharge papers and a bottle of medicine and were able to go home.

The next morning she had no fever and was happy and playing, so we decided to go along with her family birthday party. She did well. She had fun playing with her cousins, ate cake, blew out her candles, opened presents, and didn't really get cranky until it was actually bed time.

Then, Monday morning she woke up with a fever of 103.5 again. So I called the dr and they had me bring her back in. The dr said it's normal for the fever to come and go with a double ear infection, but checked her out anyway. Her lungs were sounding a little gurgly...not like pneumonia or anything, but enough that they decided to give her another medicine for her lungs. She was cranky, clingy, and occasionally lethargic all day on Monday. By evening, Titus started feeling hot, and was crying and pulling on his ears...so he has an appointment this afternoon. He woke up this morning coughing too and his breathing sounds bad. But, the good news is, by this evening everyone will have the meds they need and we should all be better soon!

Aww poor babies! Ear infections are no fun. Raquelle looks adorable in her birthday outfit : ) Happy birthday!

Birth Story

Ok, as promised, here is Titus birth story and it's probably going to be pretty long. It actually starts 2 weeks ago with prodominal labor. I had this with Raquelle where I start contracting early, but make no cervical change. We went to the hospital on Sunday night the 8th with contractions 4 min apart. The contractions were making no change, but Titus HB was low and not variable enough so they kept me. After monitoring over night, there had been no progress, but his HB was better. My MW offered to try a cytotec to ripen things up and see if that would get things going for him to be born. I had the first dose at 8 AM and a 2nd dose around noon. They caused my ctx to become very consistent but not incredibly painful. By the end of the day I had made no progress and his HB had been better so we went home. 2 month check up

I don't want to forget to blog about the kids!  When we have a new baby, I love to be able to look back and see how their growth and milestones compare to their siblings! Annabelle is 11 weeks old today.  She had her 2 month check up last week.  We are battling thrush again just like we did with the first 3.  She does NOT nurse well (still),  but I haven't had to go to formula yet.  Every day, feeding her is a struggle and it feels like a long uphill battle. Her 2 month stats - Height - 23.75" Weight - 12 lbs 8 oz She is way ahead on her social milestones.  She already imitates me and will track objects and turn her head to keep following them when they go out of her line of sight. She doesn't tolerate tummy time very well though, so she hasn't built up as much strength as her oldest sibling had by this age.  She is still right on track with what is normal though.  I don't have her paper in front of me now, but she is right about 7...

Almost a decade!

 I have not posted anything on this blog in about 9 years!  The kids are growing up, and last night, as teenagers, Kezzy came across this blog.  “Mom!!! You have a blog?  Can I read it?”  Since then, she and Titus have been reading everything on here, reminiscing about how cute they were when they were little.  It got me thinking that maybe I should resurrect this old blog!  I have another child now (Theo) who was never even mentioned in any previous posts, and very little is on here about Annabelle and Philemon!  I’ll have to think about what I want to write about, now that the kids are older.  In the mean time, here is a new picture of my now much more grown up children.  This picture is of me and the kids on Mothers Day.
