A family of 4 (Adjustments)

I have to say, now that we have had Titus with us for a week, I believe that having a 3rd child, or even having newborn twins, would be easier then having a new baby and a 13 month old. Raquelle is in to everything (as usual), only now, I'm frequently tied down to a new baby. She is still learning what no means and only sometimes responds to it. This means if she crawls behind the computer desk while I'm nursing and doesn't come out when I tell her to, I have to stop nursing to go get her. At night time, if Raquelle is sleeping well, Titus is up. He'll wake up to eat and not go back to sleep for 3 or 4 hours. If Titus is having a good night and sleeping well, suddenly Raquelle is up either with a tummy ache or a bad dream. So it's not just minimal sleep, we are oporating on basically no sleep. Of course, they couldn't nap at the same time either.

With all this busyness though, I wouldn't have it any other way. Raquelle absolutely adores her little brother. She will crawl up on the couch next to me while I am nursing and kiss him on his arms and legs. She likes to pet his hair and has even tried to feed him her bottle. She shares her toys with him (by setting them on top of him in his bounce seat...have to keep an eye on that one) and squeals with delight when I show him to her first thing in the morning. She has noticed that she is getting a little less attention and is occasionally more fussy because of this, however she has not associated this with her new brother yet.

Raquelle doesn't seem to mind sharing her bedtime story with her little brother, as long as she still gets her book and her snuggle time. Can you tell Titus is hungry?

Now I understand why some families end up with the family bed. When Titus wakes up to feed at 1 AM, he doesn't fall back asleep. If I try to lay him back down he cries. If I put him in bed with us he is content and can either nurse while I sleep, or will just fall back asleep with much less fussing and crying. Thus, we now share our bed. We hope to wean him from this by the time he is a couple months old.

Titus it totally, absolutely adorable!! Though I can't imagine having another with Elisha, who is the same age as Raquelle...I just started getting a good nights rest! Many prayers for simultaneous naps, so Mommy can get a nap too.

Birth Story

Ok, as promised, here is Titus birth story and it's probably going to be pretty long. It actually starts 2 weeks ago with prodominal labor. I had this with Raquelle where I start contracting early, but make no cervical change. We went to the hospital on Sunday night the 8th with contractions 4 min apart. The contractions were making no change, but Titus HB was low and not variable enough so they kept me. After monitoring over night, there had been no progress, but his HB was better. My MW offered to try a cytotec to ripen things up and see if that would get things going for him to be born. I had the first dose at 8 AM and a 2nd dose around noon. They caused my ctx to become very consistent but not incredibly painful. By the end of the day I had made no progress and his HB had been better so we went home. 2 month check up

I don't want to forget to blog about the kids!  When we have a new baby, I love to be able to look back and see how their growth and milestones compare to their siblings! Annabelle is 11 weeks old today.  She had her 2 month check up last week.  We are battling thrush again just like we did with the first 3.  She does NOT nurse well (still),  but I haven't had to go to formula yet.  Every day, feeding her is a struggle and it feels like a long uphill battle. Her 2 month stats - Height - 23.75" Weight - 12 lbs 8 oz She is way ahead on her social milestones.  She already imitates me and will track objects and turn her head to keep following them when they go out of her line of sight. She doesn't tolerate tummy time very well though, so she hasn't built up as much strength as her oldest sibling had by this age.  She is still right on track with what is normal though.  I don't have her paper in front of me now, but she is right about 7...

Almost a decade!

 I have not posted anything on this blog in about 9 years!  The kids are growing up, and last night, as teenagers, Kezzy came across this blog.  “Mom!!! You have a blog?  Can I read it?”  Since then, she and Titus have been reading everything on here, reminiscing about how cute they were when they were little.  It got me thinking that maybe I should resurrect this old blog!  I have another child now (Theo) who was never even mentioned in any previous posts, and very little is on here about Annabelle and Philemon!  I’ll have to think about what I want to write about, now that the kids are older.  In the mean time, here is a new picture of my now much more grown up children.  This picture is of me and the kids on Mothers Day.
