It's COLD!
I can't believe it's only October and we are already getting down to freezing at night! I guess I should be very thankful that we bought a load of wood 2 weeks ago! I wasn't expecting to have to use it yet, but just wanted to have it on hand before the baby is born. Now, my days consist of meeting Lauren at the door at 5 am and putting her to bed, then spending the next half hour getting a fire started to warm it up to a decent temperature, then going back to sleep on the couch so I can keep the fire going. The first half of the week it warmed enough to let the fire burn out around noon. Yesterday though, it didn't and when the fire burned out, the temp dropped and I had to re-light it. Our fireplace is doing a great job of keeping the main part of the house somewhere between 68 and 72, but the back half ends up being cold. So, today we are off to the store to buy a space heater. We have one in the kids room, and I want to get another one for the nursery. I don't want to tap into the oil for our main heat until the coldest part of the winter (December, January, and February) because oil is expensive. Though I will admit, I absolutely LOVE having a fire in the fireplace! I'm the type who loves to curl up by the fire with my hot cider and a good book. It is very relaxing in that sense.
