A Perfectly Fun 4th! (Post #1)
We had a great time in Washington with my family for the 4th of July. My parents went way out of their way to make sure there was tons of fun stuff for the kids (both big and small)! The day started way too early with all the kids waking up. We all eagerly awaited the arrival of Uncle Brian before going to get fireworks. Thad and I took on kid duty this year and sent our firework contribution with the experts while we played with Titus, Raquelle, and Lily. Everyone returned just in time for afternoon naps. After nap, it was swimming time! Raquelle and Titus both decided the water was too cold. When looking at the pictures, Raquelle stills says "My water! That water cold! Cold water!" when she sees pictures of people playing in the pool.

Since the water was too cold for Raquelle and Titus, we played on the trampoline instead. It was right next to the pool, so we were still able to enjoy everyones company with much happier children.

Ring around the rosey is so much more fun on a trampoline!

When setting up for the fireworks, we brought a play pen out side for when Raquelle got tired. She enjoyed climbing in and out of it over and over and over.

The cutest thing was that she would hang upside down, spread her arms out and say "I flying!" on her way in.
Titus had fun with grandma.
As the day turned into evening, uncle Brian took on the task of lighting the camp fire. I think Thad helped drag the fire pit to the front yard and gather wood too, but I was focused on the kids.
Raquelle and I had fun roasting marshmallows (as did everyone else). Thad even ignored his allergies and had a couple smores!
Raquelle approves of this new, very messy treat.
Titus didn't get a smore. Maybe next year. He enjoyed snuggling with Aunt Annie though (who flew in from New York to be with us!)

We enjoyed the smores and fire throughout the evening. Titus and Raquelle didn't make it through all the fire works. We took a break about half way through to put them to bed. It was a spectacular show, but that's to be expected when you all pool your money and buy your stuff at the reservation.
One last highlight from the weekend. At church on Sunday morning, we sang a few songs, and then one of the deacons got up to do announcements. As soon as he started talking, Raquelle started yelling "Amen!" She continued this about every other sentence he said for the rest of the announcements. My best guess with this is that her current favorite song is "if you're happy and you know it." She was happy so she decided to let everyone know it with her resounding "Amen!"
